I bought clips like these 10 years ago and I really liked the ease of use and how thick they were. Haven’t seen them since, until I found these. To my knowledge, they are the thickest clips around. I’ve had, at least, 5 other types, since I purchased original clips. All the others were flimsy and thin. I am so happy to of found these again. To me, these are the best clips for hanging outdoor house lights. The only reason I didn’t give them 5 stars is because I don’t know how well they hold up in strong winds (as it claims).Great deal!great productI love this clip. It was extremely easy to snap over the lip of my gutters and I found it to be far more versatile than others I have used in the past. You can hang multiple strings of light on each clip. The top portion breaks off and can be snapped into a hole on the front, top edge of the main body. The snap off portion has two different sizes of receptacle holes to allow you to snap mini lights into the smaller rear hole or larger bulb housings into the larger of the two. Thus, I ran my blue mini lights the entire length of the gutter in the snap off clip. But also wanted to attach my meteor shower tube lights underneath the long runs of blue bulbs. That was easy to do since the very bottom of this clip has a small plastic loop into which you could actually fit more than one set of cords for string lights, for whatever you want. Our theme is all blue except for the meteor shower tube lights which are bright white (not warm white). So I ended up with the upper detachable piece holding my blue bulb lights running horizontally the full length of my gutters. Next, I hung my 12" long cascading meteor shower white tubes the length of the gutters, using the small round hook at the bottom the gutter clip, followed by inserting blue icicle lights into the same round hook so that I had blue icicles dropping down between and behind the meteor shower. After using these for the first time, I decided to throw away my previously owned clips which did not allow as much versatility in arranging multiple lighting effects off of one set of clips.Although I used the gutters for attachment, you can also slip the top rear portion of this clip underneath the leading edge of you shingles. Great clip and I ordered 400, knowing that I would use these for many years to come.UPDATE AUGUST 2022: 3-StarsThe other day I noticed a couple of the clips had broken, causing a couple of the bulbs to come off the roofline. The next day, many more clips were broken so a whole section of lights where now hanging down. I decided to take all the lights down. I then noticed almost half of the clips were broken (out of about 60). They served me well for about 7 months. I had put them up in the winter. Now it's the blazing heat of the summer, which I can only assume caused their demise. The blazing hot sun combined with crazy high temps caused them to become brittle and crack. So I guess might point is, these are good clips for temporary use, not 365 days per year use.ORIGNAL REVIEW: JANUARY 2022: 5-StarsThey came in a very generic, industrial looking box. Not a retail package. The clips themselves are perfect! I have LED bulb lights on my house, the larger round bulbs, not the mini-LED one like typical Christmas lights. So I was a little worried these clips would be too small. But they are very multi purpose! They easily accommodated the lights I have and I can tell they would easily accommodate mini-lights also. They worked well on both the edge of my gutter and edge of roof shingles. You just have to separate the two parts of the clip, snap them together in the little hole and you can adjust to any angle you need. I was even able to use them to hold some of the wire where it needed to be anchored to the roofline because it also has a little clip area for just such usage. Very happy with this purchase!I got these to attach my XMAS lights to a shingle roof. I needed a combination of attachment types, including rain gutters and directly the the shingles. They are superb using with rain gutters. They snap right into place and hold tight. Removing them is a little scary if you are trying to break it, but is doable. Connecting directly to shingles is a little tricky in that you have to find a spot on the shingle around where you need to attach them where you can get a snug fit, the clip going in deep enough to hold. But again, it works. My biggest complaint is that I wish they were a bit sturdier, as you can break them futzing around with shingles, but this isn't valid. You get 400 of them and they don't cost an arm and a leg. So, great product for the price.Very versatile, but it comes with a price - some very sore finger tips! The process of breaking off the top and pushing it into the connecting piece on the bottom isn't difficult... at first, but by the 50th clip, your fingers will be begging for a break. With that said, the bit of pain is well worth it. Very good price and so far the clips have held up well. I read several reviews that state that the clips break easily. That's not been my experience. We utilized 2/3 of the box this holiday season and haven't had a single one break yet!Used these to run lights along my roof line this past Christmas. Just slid them under my shingles about every 3rd or 4th light. Was a little concerned that the wind may pull them out or detach the lights from the clips but we had a couple of major storms with pretty high winds and they all stayed in place/attached. The only thing that was kind of a pain was that each piece needed to be assembled before use. Basically just wiggle to break a piece off and then snap that piece into place. Not a deal breaker by any means just an added step. All in all very solid value for what you get.Purchased a big box of these clips for hanging my christmas lights, not sure how they will stand up to the weather. Anyway a big box ought to give me a couple of years supply. Clips seem well made and attach to my eavestroughs securely. Let's see what winter brings....Although the clips come in 2 parts that have to be assembled, the versatility of the final clip is very good. Allowed them to be attached to shingles and more importantly to soffits when there are gutter guards in place. All other clips would not attach to the gutters where there are gutter guards. This year, it was breeze to install the Xmass lights. I wish I had these before. It takes a few minutes to set each up but when it is done, it stays there even under a lot of snow. They are small enough to find grab on small soffit overlaps, but sturdy enough to hold up the lights. I'm happy with them so far. We'll have to see how they stack up against a real winter storm.Assembling 400 clips takes time but the result is great. These clips hold tight and give a clean looking light display.
