I have fine, thinning hair but had it pulled up and loosely twisted for my daughter's wedding. I actually used a wire cutter to cut shorter some of the pins, so I could just stick them into my hairdo. I did this so that the heads of the pins were showing more, since the decorative part of it doesn't lay flat, if that makes sense. Others pointed this out in previous reviews, so I decided to try this and it worked really well. With lots of hairspray, I could make these pins stay in my hair the whole day & night. Only dark purple bobby pin type hairpins I could find that I liked, glad I bought them!
